Nostalgia

I've been playing Roblox since I was 7 years old. It's been there for me for nearly half my life, which is kind of crazy that a game has had such an impact on my childhood.

I found Roblox through YouTube. I saw someone playing it and because I had an iPad I wanted to play it as well. So I joined.

Although I've lost access to my first account ever, I still play on my account I made when I was 8 years old. I wish changing your username would be cheaper, because it's called... "miacorn_hayleycorn"😞 (when I'm not unemployed I'll change it)

I loved unicorns and just used my name and my sister's name in my username. Weird, I know?

Well, I think the first game that got me hooked was Royale High. I still play Royale High almost daily. I love dressing up and the school day was so much fun to complete. I own all the gamepasses and I just generally enjoy the game and it's concept still.

Roblox, if you've been reading and have been confused, is a platform where the users generate games for other players to play. They can be anything. For example: Royale High is a school, Work at a Pizza Place, well that says what the game is about on the tin. Grow a Garden, etc.

Roblox is like Minecraft. Despite it being a "kids game", Roblox has many adults and older teens such as myself playing.

I personally feel that the company Roblox actually has become is quite disappointing. As a player who actually generates items for people to wear, I feel scammed at how their marketplace works.

When you play a game, you have an avatar. People create items for their avatars and sell it on the marketplace. I am one of those people. I own 2 Roblox Clothing groups/communities (yes, i've abandoned them) and I think it's scummy how they work.

Out of every sale I make, Roblox automatically takes 30% of the Robux(paid currency you can't make anywhere on the game and have to buy) that I would be making from my work.

Like I mentioned above, you cannot make Robux anywhere on the game, for free. There isn't minigames you can play, there isn't any free way to actually obtain this stuff easily. There is 1 way. Microsoft Rewards, but it's kind of complicated and I only did it once.

I feel, and a lot of other players will agree, that your avatar is very important in Roblox. A lot of people judge you based on what avatar you have. That's why kids feel pressured and ask their parents to buy them Robux. The cheapest is (R$ = Robux) R$400 and it doesn't really buy anything. Average gamepasses on Roblox go for about R$150. So, you spend it in a matter of minutes.

That feels like taking advantage of kids. But anyway - I was a kid who got taken advantage of in that sense, but oh boy, I've had the time of my life on this game.

I can tell you that I've spent at least 4-6 hours on Roblox when I came home from Primary School. When we went on holiday and have no wifi I'd practically be in withdrawls from not being able to play.

Despite all the negativity above, this is a core, and quite honestly, happy way I could've spent my childhood. Not bothering anybody, just having my own fun without harming anyone.

About Some of My Favourite Games

If you look in the games column next to this one, it's all my recommendations of games I liked when I played Roblox. I'll just be explaining some of my all-time favourites here though :-)

Royale High is a royal school where you can dress up, go to class, roleplay and level up! It's one of my favourites because I love dressing up and also collecting items. I haven't earned a halo because I hadn't played it for 3 or so years since 2020 but I started playing it again recently.

Big Paintball is a very chilled and not very serious shooter which I have over 40,000 kills in (unemployment final boss)

Grow a Garden a very recent additon to the list! I've been playing this game for about 2 weeks and I'm obsessed! It's so much fun to grow new plants and it's always fun coming back cause all my plants grow offline and I get a cash injection every time I come back.

Bloxburg is the Roblox version of the Sims. So...here's an unpopular opinion but I like playing Bloxburg more than Sims. You build a house, work for money, but I guess I find it more fun because I'm the one working and making my house, not for my sims. Maybe I'm biased, I don't know😞

Arsenal is a VERY serious shooter with an Arsenal of weapons. Every kill gets you a different weapon. First to 32 kills wins.

Dress To Impress is a dress-up game where you dress up as best you can according to the theme and walk down the runway. The person who gets the most stars from the other player's votes wins. I love how dedicated this community is, but it's quite problematic and honestly is one of the most toxic communities I know.

Stepford County Railway Drive trains. Literally that's it and I have so much fun. I'm always a late train driver though.

My Avatars

2024-2025

My current avatar is in the corner :)

2023-2022

2021-2020

2020-2019

2018

I didn't get Robux often and even when I did I spent it on gamepasses so I don't have very many avatars. They're very of their time lol, especially 2018. Salad crown was a staple of avatars.

usually i'd make variations of these avatars with new clothing. i'd always have ~70 robux left after spending it so i'd keep it and when I felt like switching it up I bought a cheap accessory or i'd buy new clothes.
